バイデン氏の側近調査、トランプ大統領指示「認知力低下隠蔽」

[ワシントン４日ロイター] - トランプ米大統領は４日、バイデン前大統領の側近がバイデン氏の認知力低下を隠蔽し、バイデン氏に代わって「オートペン（自動署名機）」を違法に使用して政策文書に署名していたかどうかを調査するよう、ホワイトハウスの顧問弁護士に指示した。

バイデン氏は、自身の政権時代の決定は自ら下したと強調。トランプ氏の動きは、富裕層減税を延長する法案から国民の目をそらすためのものだと批判した。

トランプ氏はかねてより、バイデン氏には認知力に問題があるとみており、メモや大統領令、恩赦などの署名のオートペン使用は適切でなかった可能性があり、よって効力がないなどと訴えている。

バイデン氏は４日夜に声明を発表し、これらの指摘を一蹴。「はっきりさせておきたい。赦免、大統領令、立法、布告を決定したのは私だ。私がそうしなかったという指摘は馬鹿げており、虚偽だ」とした。

バイデン氏のチームは、オートペンの使用は大統領決定後の法的慣行として確立していると指摘している。
