米国務長官、カシミール地方での襲撃事件巡り関係国に自制要求へ

[ワシントン２９日ロイター] - 米国務省は２９日、２６人が死亡したインドとパキスタンの係争地カシミール地方での観光客などへの襲撃事件を巡り、ルビオ国務長官がインド、パキスタンの外相とそれぞれ会談して自制するように促すと発表した。２９日または３０日の会談を見込んでいる。

国務省の報道官は、ルビオ氏の発言を引用して「私たちは両方の当事者と接触し、当然ながら状況をエスカレートさせないよう伝えている」と語った。

トランプ米大統領とバンス副大統領は襲撃事件を非難し、インドを支持する姿勢を表明した。一方、パキスタンへの批判は控えている。

インドが事件についてパキスタンを非難する一方、パキスタンは自国の責任を否定して中立的な調査を求めている。

影響力を拡大している中国に対抗する米国にとって、インドとの関係は重要性が増している。一方、２０２１年のアフガニスタンからの米軍撤退後にパキスタンとの関係は重要性が低下したものの、米国の同盟国であり続けている。
