クアッド外相会合、7月1日に開催＝米国務省
［２６日 ロイター］ - 米国務省のトミー・ピゴット副報道官は２６日、日米豪印４カ国による連携の枠組み「クアッド」の外相会議を７月１日に開催すると明らかにした。ルビオ米国務長官が議長を務める。
ピゴット副報道官は定例記者会見で「今回の会談は、自由で開かれた、安全なインド太平洋を推進するための勢いをさらに強めるものだ」と述べた。
ルビオ米国務長官は、第２次トランプ政権発足直後の１月２１日にも中国に焦点を当てたクアッド会合を主催した。
４カ国は中国の勢力拡大について懸念を共有している。アナリストらによると、１月の会合は中国への対抗がトランプ大統領の最優先事項であることを示すために企画されたとみられる。
しかしそれ以降、トランプ大統領の意識は中東情勢やウクライナ戦争終結に向けた協議の停滞に向く一方、クアッドのパートナーとの関係は、どの国も免れられなかった関税攻勢によって混乱している。
