米移民収容施設「ワニのアルカトラズ」、地裁が増設を禁止

[ワシントン２１日ロイター] - 米フロリダ州マイアミの連邦地方裁判所は２１日、同州にある移民収容施設「アリゲーター・アルカトラズ」での増設停止と新たな移民の収容禁止を命じた。

フェンスや発電機など施設の一部設備と支援インフラの撤去も命じた。

同施設が地域の環境や野生生物を危険にさらしているとして訴訟を起こしていた環境保護団体を支持する判断で、これらの団体は歓迎した。

一方、施設建設で連邦政府と提携しているフロリダ州は直ちに控訴を申し立てた。

トランプ大統領はこの施設を強硬な移民政策の象徴とし、ワニやヘビが生息する広大な熱帯湿地帯にあることをアピールしている。

政府関係者によると、施設の年間運営費は４億５０００万ドルで、約５０００人を収容できる。
