米副大統領、欧州に「同じチーム」と融和姿勢 2月の批判から一転

[ワシントン７日ロイター] - バンス米副大統領は７日、ミュンヘン安全保障会議（ＭＳＣ）が米首都ワシントンで主催したイベントで、欧州と米国は「同じチーム」だと述べ、欧州を激しい言葉で批判した２月のドイツ訪問時に比べて融和的な姿勢を打ち出した。

バンス氏は、欧州が防衛に関してより大きな責任を担うべきだとの考えを改めて示すとともに、欧米双方の防衛システムは時代遅れになっていると指摘した。

一方で「米国と欧州の間に堅固な溝を走らせることができると考えるのは全く馬鹿げている」とも述べ、欧米の文化は結びついていると強調した。

バンス氏は２月にドイツのミュンヘンで開かれたＭＳＣで、欧州指導者らは自由な言論を検閲し、移民管理に失敗しているなどと激しく批判し、ドイツの閣僚らの非難を招いた。

ＭＳＣ財団評議会のウォルフガング・イッシンガー会長は７日、来年ドイツで開かれるＭＳＣ本会議にバンス氏を招待すると発言。バンス氏は「２月のこと以来、再び招待を頂けるか自信がなかったが、頂けると分かって良かった」と述べて笑いを誘った。

外交官や安全保障専門家を含む聴衆は、バンス氏の登壇時には拍手しなかったが、降壇の際には拍手を送った。
