コロンビア大、連邦資金復活へ政府と和解 反ユダヤで2億ドル罰金
[ワシントン ２３日 ロイター] - 米コロンビア大学は２３日、イスラエルへの抗議運動を巡り停止されていた連邦資金の提供再開でトランプ政権と合意に達したと発表した。ユダヤ人学生への嫌がらせに十分な措置を講じなかったとされる問題について、３年間で２億ドルの罰金を支払う。
声明で「本日の合意に基づき、２０２５年３月に打ち切られた、あるいは一時停止された連邦政府助成金の大部分が復活し、コロンビア大は現在および将来の数十億ドル規模の助成金を再び利用できるようになる」と述べた。
また、雇用機会均等委員会の調査を巡り２１００万ドルを支払って和解することで合意したとしたほか、教員採用、入学選考、学術上の意思決定に関する自主性については、大学が維持することでトランプ政権と合意したと述べた。
これに先立ちコロンビア大は２２日、学内で行われた親パレスチナ抗議活動を理由に数十人の学生を懲戒処分にした。
