[ワシントン２日ロイター] - トランプ大統領の誕生日にあたる６月１４日に、米軍が首都ワシントンで大規模な軍事パレードを計画していることが分かった。パレードは陸軍創設２５０周年を祝う祝賀行事の一環として実施され、６５００人を超える兵士、車両約１５０台、航空機５０機が投入されるという。

陸軍は以前から創設２５０周年に合わせ６月にワシントンのナショナルモールに兵士と軍装備を展開する計画を進めていたが、複数の当局者は匿名を条件に、記念日がトランプ大統領の７９歳の誕生日と重なることから、現時点での計画には軍事パレードも含まれていると明らかにした。

ロイターが入手した計画文書によると、陸軍の祝賀行事は１週間にわたり行われ、６月１４日の軍事パレードが主要なイベントになる。

当局者は、軍事パレードの実施をホワイトハウスが要請したのか、陸軍が独自に計画し始めたのかは不明としている。計画はホワイトハウスや国防総省の承認をまだ受けておらず、変更の可能性もあるという。総費用などの詳細も不明。

ホワイトハウスは、トランプ大統領が退役軍人と現役軍人のための軍事パレードを主催する予定であることを確認したが、詳細は明らかにしていない。
